Rodarte Fall Winter 2015/2016 inspiration according to designers Laura and Kate Mulleavy was birds. Migrating birds, to be specific. Birds migrating from city to country, to be more so. But he most obvious influence this season was all about disco! Yes disco! There were multicolor sequin stripes; one-shoulder dresses; a crystal mesh material that read as a kind of magic lamé; and that Bob Mackie-style, heavy-duty figurative bead embroidery that’s done a long-term penance in the thrift shop bins. (Now it’s back, apparently.)

Get ready for the launch of another H&M designer collaboration! On November 5th Balmain and H&M will introduce a fashion collection and we’ve got an early look at what fashionistas will be standing in line (or waiting on-line) for tomorrow. For men and women alike, Balmain is known for its sharp-shouldered jackets and military detailing; and under the leadership of the brand’s 29-year-old creative director Olivier Rousteing, it’s only gotten better. 10/10/15 O&A NYC Its Saturday – Anything Goes: Burberry Womenswear Autumn/Winter 2015
For the Burberry Womenswear Autumn/Winter 2015 collection classic sentimentality is ever present but in the form of figurative postcards from exotic corners of the world with each look. Batik print trench coats were styled with suede patchwork bottoms for a print-on-print effect. Day dresses with exposed panelling continued the print story, fashioning oriental motifs at times. Paako Indian embroidery with embedded mirror accents carry forward a theme from the men’s show. But what is poised to becoming the season’s must-haves were the fringed capes and matching bucket bags that were decidedly bohemian. Continue reading

Alexander Wang said he started working on his new Balenciaga collection by thinking about Cristóbal’s original clientele. Wang’s shapes were straight out of the archives: a cocoon coat, rounded jackets with stand-up collars, bubble skirts—all of it decorated to the hilt with paste jewelry, like the ladies would’ve done back in the day, only with the real stuff.
