Black Art In America: Fine Arts Show presented the second New York City art show at the Faison Firehouse Theater, 6 Hancock Place (124 Street between Amsterdam and Morningside. The October 23 opening night exhibition held for selected dealers and collectors featured approximately 150 works from over forty artists in medium ranging from oil paintings from Reginald Gammon, to contemporary sculpture by Woodrow Nash. The fine art show runs until Sunday October 25.

The Firehouse had placed art on three levels, which transformed the first floor theater stage and second floor rehearsal space into a maze of partition walls covered in paintings, photography, limited edition prints, mixed media and works on paper and sculpture. The converted space retained a level of intimacy, reminiscent of eastside townhouse gallery. This meant art was hung in living spaces such as staircases, hallways and lounge areas.

There is no gallery selected or the gallery was deleted.

There is a $20 weekend exhibition pass for exhibitions and programming, children free when accompanied by an adult. There is a separate admission price of $20 per show for the two Saturday music performances at 7pm and 9pm by Grammy Award nominated saxophonist, flautist, clarinetist, film, composer, producer and arranger Jay Rodriguez, and songwriter and vocalist Derin Young. For general information call: (347) 948- 7308.
