Lady Sings The Blues is the story of jazz singer Billie Holiday and is loosely based on her 1956 autobiography. The name of the film was taken from one of Holiday’s most popular songs.
The movie was produced by Motown Productions for Paramount Pictures and starred Diana Ross as Billie Holiday. The cast included Billy Dee Williams, Richard Pyror, James Callahan and Scatman Crothers.
