For much of a decade, Storyboard P has been recognized (at least in NYC) as being an amazing and unique performer, an artist who draws unpredictable images with his body, in a tone or mood hovering between dream and danger. This solo, about cocaine, is an example of his physical virtuosity. But it’s also scary, entertainment with a twist. If you look at the faces of the young men in the audience after it’s over, they look somewhere between deeply confused and really sobered up, as if unsure whether some line has been crossed. I share their puzzlement and hope that this talented dancer and his skilled colleague are themselves okay.
