Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for its upcoming animated film Smurfs, starring Rihanna as the voice of Smurfette. The pop icon not only brings the beloved blue character to life but also delivers a cover of Belinda Carlisle’s 1987 hit Heaven Is a Place On Earth.
The trailer opens with Rihanna introducing the film before transporting viewers to Smurf Village. In addition to voicing Smurfette, Rihanna serves as a producer on the film and has written original songs for the soundtrack.Directed by Chris Miller and Matt Landon, Smurfs boasts an all-star cast alongside Rihanna, including John Goodman, Natasha Lyonne, Nick Offerman, Octavia Spencer, Sandra Oh, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll and Kurt Russell.Smurfs is set to hit theaters on July 18.
