2/27/25 O&A NYC THROWBACK THURSDAY: Bobby McFerrin & The Kuumba Singers – Hold on

The Kuumba Singers of Harvard College & Bobby McFerrin perform Hold On in Leipzig, Germany. This gospel song was written by Rev. Cleophus Robinson Jr., and first recorded on his 1980 album Consolation.

In 1970, Kuumba became the first Black student organization on Harvard’s campus, created in opposition to the oppression of Black voices. Kuumba was built on the values of liberation, freedom, and justice for the marginalized and has, since our founding, stood for and with oppressed people around the world.
