Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center (THPAC) begins their 2015 performance /presenting season with its on-the-edge PEEKS-Works in progress choreographers showcase February 26, 7:30pm at The Actors Fund Arts Center, 160 Schermerhorn Street in downtown Brooklyn. The performance is free to the public; of course donations at the door are always welcomed.

The February 26 PEEKS-Works in progress performance will present two accomplished artists who are now exploring the art of making dances; Solomon Dumas (former dancer with Ron K. Brown/Evidence), and Erick Montes (principal dancer with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Co.).Both of these artists are being presented for the first time at THPAC. Immediately following the presentation will be an audience/artist talkback moderated by program curator Germaul Barnes.

PEEKS-Works in progress is a laboratory environment designed for artists to present concepts and ideas and receive audience feedback. PEEKS also provides THPAC a year round presence on the New York City dance scene, by presenting and identifying an ever-expanding talent base of new artists and new work. The developed works receive consideration for the annual Souls of Our Feet: People of Color Dance Festival presented each year in June.

Founded 39 years ago to support the creative ideas of both choreographers and dance companies the Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center continues to offer performance opportunities to established and emerging artists. THPAC remains a vital presenting institution offering the public an opportunity to experience both the process and the finished product. It embraces social and cultural issues expressed through the rich landscape of music, dance, literature, and performance art.
