Ballet Hispanico begins a two-week New York City season Tuesday April 14 at the Joyce Theatre. The season will an eclectic mix ranging from a modern remake of an opera inspired classic, to a eighties showgirl tease. The season continues Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro vision of celebrating the Latino culture. O&A NYC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Walter Rutledge sat down with Vilaro to discuss the upcoming season and more.

Variations on the word premiere permeate the 2015 New York City season. There is a world premiere by Mexico-based choreographer Miguel Mancillas, the New York City premiere of Show Girl by Miami-based award-winning choreographer Rosie Herrera and the Joyce premiere of an evening-length Picasso-inspired contemporary take on Bizet’s beloved classic CARMEN.maquia by Gustavo Ramírez Sansano. Sansano’s El Beso, Sombrerísimo by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, and Celia Cruz-inspired Asuka by Cuban-American Vilaro complete the program.
