The Harlem Arts Alliance presented a special monthly meeting celebrating the Harlem community’s contribution to dance. The forum, which took place on Monday April 4, acknowledged the contributions of women of color to the advancement of the art form. The evening began with an informal meet and greet in the lobby of Aaron Davis Hall, City College.

There is no gallery selected or the gallery was deleted.

The event was more a forum- an evening of artistic awareness that included a panel discussion, an audience O&A and two solo performances by the Elisa Monte Dance Company choreographed by Founder Elisa Monte and newly appointed Artistic Director Tiffany Rea-Fisher. Moderator Kaisha S. Johnson lead a spirited discussion with panelist Sita Frederick, Theresa Ruth Howard, Francine Sheffeld and Marya Wether focusing on; combating  artistic stereotypes and marginalization, greater diversity, and the need for community empowerment. Participants and audience members were encouraged to network, collaborate and consolidate their resources to achieve maximum visible and continued sustainability in the new Harlem arts landscape.
