Choreographer Pascal Rioult and O&A NYC Editor-In-Chief Walter Rutledge discussed the upcoming New York City season of RIOULT Dance at the Joyce Theater May 31 thru June 4.
The season will present two works that encompass Rioult’s artistic range and depth. Fire in the Sky (World Premiere), set to the rock and roll music of Deep Purple, has been referred to by Rioult as “a life’s work in dance”. The music revisits his youth and his club days of 1970’s seen through the eyes of a mature artist in full control of this craft.
Te Deum (1995), one of his first works choreographed during his transition from dancer to dance maker. This new re-imaging, which utilizes Arvo Part’s score of the same name, revisits the work with the fresh new eye and perspective.
