A programme note for “Promethean Fire” states that the ballet “examines a kaleidoscope of emotional colors in the human condition” and Leopold Stokowski’s three Bach arrangements suit the balletic action perfectly!

Promethean Fire – Paul Taylor Dance Company (Bach-Stokowski)

Leopold Stokowski was a noted conductor and arranger and amongst his enormous output were around forty Symphonic Transcriptions of works by Bach.His Czech Philharmonic recordings of three of these were used as the musical accompaniments to a ballet created by Paul Taylor for his own Dance Company in 2002.  … This performance was recorded in the Edinburgh Festival Theatre during the company’s UK tour in 2003.
