7/9/20 O&A NYC THROWBACK TUESDAY: A Day at the Races- Lindy Hop Scene (Colorized)

An excerpt from the Marx Bros. comedy A Day at the Races (1937) featuring Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers dancing to All God’s Chillun Got Rhythm performed by Ivie Anderson with the Duke Ellington’s Orchestra.

A bouncer at the Savoy Ballroom by the name of Herbert “Whitey” White put together a team of dancers called “Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers” that popularized the Lindy Hop across the nation. They appeared in live performances around the country and in several feature films including A Day At The Races.
