For the Chanel Fall/Winter 2016/17 Ready-to-Wear fashion show Karl Lagerfeld hit upon one way to make every show-goer happy this morning, and it wasn’t from the wonderment of a set of gargantuan proportions. Quite simply, it was giving each and every one of his guests a front row seat.
No Chanel airport, no Chanel-branded supermarket or giant melting iceberg to amaze, just row upon row of 3,000 gilded chairs meticulously arranged in lines inside the Grand Palais, where models weaved their way through a 600-metre runway that took a full eight and a half minutes to saunter – roughly the same time as a fashion show from beginning to end.
