Dance Theatre of Harlem will present their second New York season April 23 through April 27 at the Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center. The company can best be described as a “Phoenix Rising”. In 2013 the company literally rose from the ashes after a seven-year hiatus to the delight of the dance world and the Harlem community.

To return after being out of the public mindset for almost a decade was a formidable, almost impossible task. Dance Theater of Harlem is back with the style and verve we remember, while at the same time “leaping” into the twenty-first century with a new freshness. The three-part interview with Artistic Director Virginia Johnson, shown now in its entirety, was originally posted on February 1, 2012 prior to the DTH 2 season at the Joyce Theater. It was last season for DTH 2, and a year before the official New York debut of Dance Theatre of Harlem.
