On November 5th  Balmain and H&M will introduce a fashion collection and we’ve got an early look at what fashionistas will be standing in line (or waiting on-line) for tomorrow. For men and women alike, Balmain is known for its sharp-shouldered jackets and military detailing; and under the leadership of the brand’s 29-year-old creative director Olivier Rousteing, it’s only gotten better. Earth Song is the third single from Michael Jackson’s album HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I. The ballad incorporates elements of blues, gospel and opera. Jackson had a long-standing history of releasing socially conscious material such as We Are the World, Man in the Mirror and Heal the World. The 1968 Olympics Black Power salute was an act of protest by the African-American athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos during their medal ceremony at the 1968 Summer Olympics in the Olympic Stadium in Mexico City. As they turned to face their flags and hear the American national anthem (The Star-Spangled Banner), they each raised a black-gloved fist and kept them raised until the anthem had finished.  Continue reading

Harold George “Harry” Belafonte, Jr. (born March 1, 1927) is a singer, songwriter, actor, social activist, and Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Governors Awards honoree. One of the most successful Caribbean American pop stars in history, he was dubbed the King of Calypso for popularizing the Caribbean musical style with an international audience in the 1950s. Tim Bowman, Jr. has voice reminiscent of and capable of the acrobatics of Stevie  Wonder. A contemporary gospel singer and songwriter this Detroit, Michigan native grew up in a musical family. His father, Tim Bowman, is a Billboard-charting jazz/gospel musician, and his paternal aunt is popular gospel singer Vickie Winans.
