The Paul Taylor Dance Company begins their New York season today at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. The season marks the 60th anniversary of the company and the third consecutive season at Lincoln Center. During the three-week engagement, Tuesday, March 11 through Sunday, March 30, the company will present 22 works that span Founder/Artistic Director Paul Taylor’s seven decades of dance making. On March 23 in celebration of the company’s 60th-anniversary season, Carolyn Adams, Ruth Andrien, Bettie de Jong and 44 additional former Taylor dancers will participate From Sea to Shining Sea (1965).

New York City Ballet principals Tiler Peck and Robert Fairchild will perform an excerpt from Airs (1978) at the Thursday, March 13 gala. The season repertoire will include revivals of rarely seen classics Fibers (1961), Private Domain (1969) and Dust (1977), audience favorites such as Esplanade (1975), Cloven Kingdom (1976) and Arden Court (1981), as well as two new works by Taylor, American Dreamer and the world premiere of Marathon Cadenzas. The world premiere of Marathon Cadenzas will be the 141st work choreographed by Taylor, who is considered by many the last living 20th century dance legend. The work is based on the 1969 Sydney Pollack film They Shoot Horses Don’t They? In True Taylor style the work is a slice of Americana as it focuses on a group of characters desperate to win a Depression-era dance marathon.
