Robert Yancy, Natalie Cole’s son says the first African-American to win a Grammy for Best New Artist deserved a better tribute. Yancy says he’s outraged his mom didn’t get a star-studded tribute. “She has deserved so much more than that because she has done so much,” he said. “It was really insulting,” he added. Sisters Timolan and Casey Cole agreed. “Not even verbally mentioned. It was not something we felt was worthy of such an iconic star.” Continue reading

Space Oddity, written and performed by David Bowie and released as a music single, and opening track of the album David Bowie (also known as Space Oddity) in July 1969. The song is about the launch of Major Tom, a fictional astronaut. Besides its title, which alludes to the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, the introduction to the song is a barely audible instrumental build-up that is analogous to the deep bass tone in Also sprach Zarathustra that is prominently used in the film. His latest single Lazarus, which released on January – his 69th Birthday from the album  Blackstar has already received critical acclaim. Bowie chose to make Backstar his final artistic statement.
