Throwback Thursday: Destiny’s Child (Repost) Survivor, Bootylicious and bonus- No, No, No Part 1&2

Throwback Thursday logo 2destinys-child01Destiny’s Child was an R&B girl group formed in 1996 and is best known as a trio comprised of Beyonce’ Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Destiny’s Child has sold more than 60 million records worldwide to date, and Billboard magazine ranks the group as one of the greatest musical trios of all time.

The repost includes Destiny’s Child first hit No, No, No Part 1 & 2 with the original group featuring Knowles, Rowland, LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett. Despite critical and commercial success, the group was plagued by internal conflict and legal turmoil, including favoritism towards Beyonce and Kelly by manage Matthew Knowles.

Destiny’s Child recorded their third album, Survivor, from late 2000 until early 2001. In the production process, Knowles assumed more control in co-producing and co-writing almost the entire album. Survivor hit stores in the spring of 2001, and entered the Billboard 200 at number one, selling over 663,000 copies in its first week sales.

Their third album, Survivor contained themes the public interpreted as a channeling of the group’s experiences. The album featured international bestsellers Independent Women, Survivor and Bootylicious.
