Whitney Houston’s live performance of I Will Always Love You was featured in Divas Live 99. In 1992, Houston recorded a new arrangement of I Will Always Love You for The Bodyguard soundtrack, her film debut.
She was originally to record Jimmy Ruffin’s What Becomes of the Brokenhearted as the lead single from The Bodyguard. However, when it was discovered the song was to be used for Fried Green Tomatoes, Houston requested a different song. “I Will Always Love You” won the 1994 Grammy Award for Record of the Year, and Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Female Pop Vocal Performance.
