Sylvester James, Jr. better known as Sylvester, was a disco and soul singer-songwriter. Known for his flamboyant and androgynous appearance that exemplified the era. Sylvester was often described by the mainstream media as a drag queen, but he repeatedly rejected such a description. Responsible for a string of hit singles in the late 1970s, Sylvester became known in the United States under the moniker of the “Queen of Disco.” Continue reading

Put It On  a song recorded by the late Big L (featuring rapper Kid Capri). The track produced by Buckwild for Big L’s debut studio album, Lifestylez Ova Da Poor in 1995 was written by Coleman, Roy Ayers and Anthony Best. Sadly Big L was murder on February 15, 1999.

Houston’s talent and worldwide popularity due to the release of the film The Bodyguard buoyed the nation patriotism just after the onset of the Persian Gulf War. The legendary Diana Ross took the stage in New York’s Central Park On July 21, 1983. Soon after the entertainer began her concert in front of an audience of over 800,000 people the pouring rain and heavy wind threatened to put an end to the show. Needed Me recorded by Barbadian singer Rihanna for her eighth studio album, Anti (2016). Written by Rihanna, Brittany Hazard, A. Sneed, Alicia Reneé, Charles Hinshaw and Derrus Rachel together with its producer DJ Mustard and its co-producers Twice as Nice and Frank Dukes. It impacted the radio stations on March 30, 2016, as a follow up single from Anti together with Kiss It Better. The song became Rihanna’s 29th top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 peaking at number 10.
