In 2008 Robin Williams performed at the Wimbledon Theatre. It was a charity performance in support of Prince Charles’ organization, The Prince’s Trust. Recently Prince Charles became the first British royal to publicly pay tribute Williams, after the late actor’s death. In a statement to Press Association Charles said, “I greatly enjoyed meeting him on several occasions and his irreplaceable contribution to life will be greatly missed by countless people, including myself.” He added: “He was a remarkable man, whose wonderful frenetic humour brought a special kind of laughter into people’s lives.”

In 1983 Whoopi Goldberg (Caryn Elaine Johnson) created The Spook Show, a one-woman show composed of different character monologues. Director Mike Nichols offered to take the show to Broadway.
