On Thursday October 23, 2014 Dance critic and author Jennifer Dunning talked with Dudley Williams about his career that spans almost six decades. Clack Center NYC hosted A Conversation with Dudley Williams at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Bruno Walter Auditorium, 40 Lincoln Center Plaza at 6pm.. Williams was frank, funny and informative, discussing a wide range of his experiences with some of the world’s most renowned choreographers.
Williams tell us about his early experiences in dance; from New York City’s High School of the Performing Arts to dancing with Martha Graham Dance Company and joining the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. In addition, Dudley shares anecdotes about working with Alvin Ailey, discusses training the next generation and takes questions from the audience.
A Conversation With Dudley Williams
During his 40 year tenure with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Williams worked my many choreographers including Louis Falco, Lucas Hoving, and George Faison. He discusses his roles and impressions of the works they created. Williams also talks about A Song For You the ballet that became his signature role and share his insight into what it takes to become a dancer.
