Blind Boys of Alabama are a five-time Grammy Award winning gospel group from Alabama. They first sang together in 1944. Since then, the group’s output has spanned seven decades of tours and appearances, and produced a successful discography.
Amazing Grace -An except from On The Block (After Bearden) performed by the Nanette Bearden Contemporary Dance Theater, Walter Rutledge choreographer . The section depicts images from the second panel of Romare Bearden’s six panel collage The Block. In this section the women (Andrea Long) is taken to heaven. Cast includes Hassan Blandford, Mark Burns, Daniel Soto, Eddie Stockton and Dartanian Reed (Angel of Death). The choice of music was chosen in tribute to Alvin Ailey (Amazing Grace lyrics performed to the House of the Rising Sun).
