Maurice White, Earth, Wind and Fire vocalist and co-founder died in his sleep in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening. He was 74. The singer had battled Parkinson’s disease since 1992. Because of the disease, he had not toured with the pioneering soul and R&B group since 1994. He nevertheless remained active on the business side of the group. Reasons is a love ballad by Earth, Wind & Fire from their sixth album, That’s the Way of the World (1975). The album was the group’s most successful and contained the falsetto singing of Philip Bailey. Although it never charted Reasons has endured. The song, which was written by Bailey, Charles Stepney, Maurice White has appeared on dozens of albums, including almost all of Earth, Wind & Fire’s greatest hits and compilation albums.
