The Worst, is a song released on the debut album of Jhene Aiko entitled Sail Out (2013) On November 11, 2013 Aiko debuted the song’s accompanying music video. The video depicts Aiko being driven to murder due to her bad relationship, the video continues with Aiko sitting in her kitchen while her boyfriend lies on the floor. After committing murder, she makes herself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, applies her makeup, and puts on her jewelery. She washes her hands of blood and calmly walks out of her house in lingerie to waiting cops. Continue reading
After the Love Has Gone is a 1979 hit single for Earth, Wind & Fire, written by David Foster, Jay Graydon, and Bill Champlin for the album I Am. The song was nominated for a Grammy for Record of the Year and won for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group. Maurice White, Earth, Wind and Fire vocalist and co-founder died in his sleep in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening. He was 74. The singer had battled Parkinson’s disease since 1992. Because of the disease, he had not toured with the pioneering soul and R&B group since 1994. He nevertheless remained active on the business side of the group. His health had reportedly deteriorated in recent months. Continue reading
Stormy Weather, the title song and dance sequence for the 1943 film of the same name, starred Lena Horne and Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and Katherine Dunham with her “dance troupe”. Other notable performers in the movie were Cab Calloway and Fats Waller (both appearing as themselves), the Nicholas Brothers dancing duo, comedian F. E. Miller, and singer Ada Brown. Despite a running time of only 77 minutes, the film features some 20 musical numbers. This was Robinson’s final film (he died in 1949); Waller died only a few months after its release.
