Mikayla Simpson better known as Koffee is a reggae artist from Spanish Town, Jamaica. She released her debut single Burning in 2017 and in 2019 signed with Columbia Records. Her 2019 EP Rapture won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, making Koffee the youngest person and only woman to be awarded in the Best Reggae Album category. Flexing was born in the Brooklyn basements in the 1990’s and exploded across the city to become an internationally recognized dance style. The presentational nature of the dance battle share elements with West African dance. The competitive and athletic performance/battle is usually performed in the round, with a raucous audience cheering the participants/combatants.
