BattleFest celebrates the extreme street dancers and dance styles derived from hip hop and the Jamaican street dance craze known as Bruk Up. Over the years the battles (a contest between two or more dancers) has evolved from the street dance bravura of Brooklyn’s inner city youth to thematic composition recognized worldwide. Mistletoe by pop artist Justin Bieber was written and produced by Nasri, and Adam Messinger. Released on October 17, 2011 as the lead single from his Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe, the pop and R&B song has reggae influences.

Bounty Killer (born Rodney Price; 12 June 1972; Kingston, Jamaica) is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall deejay. Allmusic describes him as having been “one of the most aggressive dancehall stars of the ’90s, a street-tough rude boy with an unrepentant flair for gun talk.” He is the founder of a dancehall collective known as The Alliance with deejay Mavado.

The legend Barrington Levy just did a collaboration with Supreme. Its an honor within the culture of reggae. Levy was born in Clarendon, Jamaica. He formed a band called the Mighty Multitude, with his cousin, Everton Dacres; the pair released My Black Girl in 1977. Levy established his solo career the next year with A Long Time Since We Don’t Have No Love; though the single was a failure, the fourteen-year-old was a popular performer at Jamaican dancehalls. BattleFest League Extreme Street Dancing came from the gritty streets of Brooklyn (that’s the gritty streets before gentrification). The style is part structured dance, improvisation, contortion and acrobatics, while remaining 100% testosterone charged. BattleFest is a dance battle sports leagues for extreme street dancers.

Super Cat (born William Anthony Maragh in Kingston, Jamaica, 25 June 1963) is a deejay who achieved widespread popularity during the late 1980s and early 1990s dancehall movement. His nickname Wild Apache, was given to him by his mentor Early B. He is the elder brother of reggae artist Junior Cat and is considered one of the greatest deejays within the Jamaican dance-hall scene to date.
Ghanaian artist Paa Joe has brought some of New York City’s most iconic motifs to life.
